How do I project Quill Lessons?

Turn off mirroring between your computer and projector to project the student view of Quill Lessons.

Updated over a week ago

After you have launched a Quill Lesson, click the Launch Projector icon in the navigation bar at the top right of the Quill Lesson interface. This will open a new window with the student view of the Quill Lesson slides.

Then, you will need to turn off the mirroring of your computer screen to the projector screen so that you can simultaneously display the teacher view of the Quill Lesson on your computer screen and the student view of the Quill Lesson on your projector screen.

In order to ensure that the projector screen does NOT mirror your computer screen and show students the teacher view, follow the below instructions to turn off mirroring.

How can I turn off mirroring?

For PC

  • Go to Control Panel or right-click on your desktop.

  • Choose Display Settings.

  • In the Multiple Display drop-down, select Extend Desktop to This Display.

For Chromebook

  • Click on your account photo.

  • Click Settings.

  • In the Device section, click Displays.

  • To turn off the mirroring of your computer screen to the projector screen, make sure you select Extended Desktop. Please see this Google article for reference.

For Mac

  • Go to System Preferences.

  • Go to Displays.

  • Next, select the Arrangement tab.

  • Uncheck Mirror Displays.

Tip ๐Ÿ’ก

This guide should work for both SMART boards and normal projectors. If your system does not allow you to turn off mirroring, you can launch the Quill Lesson from two different devices, use one device for the student view of the Quill Lesson, and use the other device for the teacher view of the Quill Lesson.

How do I drag the student-facing slides to the projector screen?

Once you have turned off mirroring, click and hold the top bar of the browser with the student view of the Quill Lesson and move the browser to the projector by dragging the browser off the edge of your screen and onto the projector screen.
