How can I import classes from Google Classroom?

If you have a Google Classroom account, use the Import from Google Classroom button to import selected classes into Quill.

If you signed up for Quill using your Google account (or linked your Quill account to your Google account in your My Account page after sign up), you can import your rosters from Google Classroom to Quill on the My Classes page in Quill.

How do I import classes from Google Classroom to Quill?

Navigate to the My Classes tab to begin the process of importing your Google Classroom rosters.

Then, click the Import from Google Classroom hyperlink in the upper right corner of the page.

This will bring you to a form to select the classes in Google Classroom that you'd like to import to Quill. Once you have selected the classes you would like to import, click the green Import classes button to import these classes into Quill.

Once your classes are imported, make sure to periodically re-sync your Google Classroom-synced Quill class to Google Classroom by clicking the green Import Google Classroom students button to make sure that newly-added students in your Google Classroom show up in Quill!


How do I add new students to Google-Classroom-synced classes?

To roster newly added students to Google Classroom-synced classes, please navigate to the My Classes tab.

Then, click the Google Classroom-synced class to which you would like to roster newly added students and click the Import Google Classroom students button.

Check the box next to the I understand... statement and click the green Import students button.


How do I re-authorize my Google account?

When attempting to re-sync a Google Classroom-linked class, you might see a pop-up menu communicating that you need to reauthorize Quill's access to your Google account. This means that you need to log back into your Google account so that Quill can have access to Google.

To reauthorize your account, click the green Reauthorize button and log back into Google.


How do students with Google-linked accounts log into Quill?

After your classes have been imported to Quill, students will log into their Quill accounts by clicking the Log in with Google button on this page.

  • My Google Classroom-linked classes are from last school year. Should I wait until I create new classes to begin assigning activities?

    Yes, if you’re planning to use your Google Classroom classes with Quill, you should wait to import your new Google Classroom classes into Quill before assigning activities to the students in these new classes.

  • I just added a new student to my Google Classroom class. How can I get them to show up on my Quill roster?

    You can add any new students by re-syncing your Quill class with your Google Classroom class! Go to the My Classes tab, click on the class in question, and then click the green Import Google Classroom students button.

  • When importing new students to my roster, the green button shows a spinning wheel and does not import my students. What should I do?

    If you see a spinning wheel or a message that reauthorization is needed while attempting to import students from Google Classroom, please log out of your Quill account by clicking your name in the top right corner and clicking the Logout option. Then, log back into your Quill account. This will re-sync your Quill account with your Google account. After logging back in, please click the Import Google Classroom students button once more, and this should import the new students into Quill.
