How are classes rostered with ClassLink?

Learn how classes are rostered with ClassLink when you do not have a School/District Premium subscription.

Tip 💡

If you have a School Premium or District Premium subscription, please click here to see how classes and students are automatically rostered with ClassLink.

If you do not have a School Premium or District Premium subscription, even if your Quill account is linked with ClassLink, your classes and students will not be able to be automatically rostered with ClassLink. However, you will be able to apply the workaround described below to roster your classes and students.

Please navigate to the Manage Classes page.

Then, click the Create a class button to manually create a class.

In the menu that appears, name your class and select the grade of your class from the dropdown menu. Optionally, reset the class code for your class by clicking the Reset hyperlink. Then, click the Create class, next button.

On the next page, choose the Students create their own accounts option to see a unique link that may be shared with your students so that they may sign up for their Quill accounts with ClassLink and automatically be added to your class.

Click the Copy button to copy the unique link and share it with your students. When students click the unique link, they will be prompted to sign up for their own Quill accounts and will be automatically added to your class.

After your students click the unique link, please guide them to sign up for their Quill accounts with ClassLink by clicking the Sign up with ClassLink button.

After they click the Sign up with ClassLink button, they will be able to enter their ClassLink login credentials and be automatically added to your class.

FAQs:

My students can’t access Quill through ClassLink. What should I check?

If students are unable to sign up or log in through ClassLink, check that your ClassLink administrator has granted access to Quill. If you see an error such as “Access to this app has not been enabled,” it typically means ClassLink permissions need to be updated at the district level.

Why aren’t newly added ClassLink students appearing in my class?

ClassLink data typically syncs on a nightly cycle, but in non-Premium setups, updates may not automatically reflect in Quill. If students are missing, confirm they’ve successfully signed up using the ClassLink option and verify that your ClassLink account permissions are active. If the issue continues, contact your IT administrator to ensure Quill access is fully enabled in ClassLink.
