School/District Premium: How do I use the Teacher Usage Export feature?

The Teacher Usage Export allows administrators to download a CSV file listing teachers associated with a school and their Quill usage.

The Teacher Usage Export feature is available to administrators with School/District Premium subscriptions.

Use the Teacher Usage Export to download a summary of your teachers' Quill usage in a CSV file and upload the data into a district reporting system or another system for further data analysis.

Access the Teacher Usage Export

Administrators can use the Teacher Usage Export feature to download a school- or district-wide summary of teacher activity on Quill, including how many students each teacher is reaching, how many activities they've assigned and completed, and how many diagnostics they've run.

To access the Teacher Usage Export feature, navigate to the Premium Hub, click the Premium Reports tab, and click the Teacher Usage Export option from the dropdown menu.

Use the Filters

Use the filters on the left side of the Teacher Usage Export table to narrow down the data.

  • Timeframe

    • The timeframes available are:

      • Last 30 days

      • Last 90 days

      • This month

      • Last month

      • Last school year

      • All time

      • Custom

    • The default time frame is This school year, defined as July 1 through June 30. Currently, it is not possible to set your academic year. You can upvote this feature request here. We recommend selecting the Custom timeframe if you use a different academic year.

    • This filter displays all schools for which you are an administrator. If you'd prefer to view school-specific data, select only that specific school.

  • Grade

    • This filter displays all grades, regardless of whether there is a classroom with this grade at your school.

    • The No grade set option refers to classes without a grade.

  • Teacher

    • This filter displays all teachers at the schools for which you are an administrator.

  • Classroom

    • This filter displays all classrooms at the schools for which you are an administrator.

Tips šŸ’”
The items available for selection in the Teacher and Classroom filters are dynamic. For example, if you selected Grade 5 in the Grade filter, the Teacher filter will only show teachers with a Grade 5 classroom. As noted above, the Grade filter will display all grades regardless of your selections.

The School, Grade, Teacher, and Classroom filters allow you to select multiple items. For example, you might want to view data for just Grades 7 and 8.

After selecting all the desired filters, click the Apply Filters button to narrow the displayed data.

Preview

After applying filters, you can preview the data.

The preview displays the first 10 teachers that match your filters. It is particularly useful when using narrow filters, as it allows you to confirm whether any teachers match your criteria before proceeding with exporting the data

When you download the CSV, it will include all teachers matching your filters.

Data Fields

In the Teacher Usage Export table, you'll see one row per teacher. Each row summarizes that teacher's Quill usage across different datapoints:

  • Total Active Students: The number of students who have completed at least one activity from that teacher.

  • Total Activities Assigned: How many activities the teacher has assigned.

  • Total Activities Completed: How many activities the teacher’s students have completed.

  • Total Baseline Diagnostics Completed: How many baseline diagnostics the teacher’s students have completed.

  • Total Growth Diagnostics Completed: How many growth diagnostics the teacher’s students have completed.

  • Average Activities Per Student: The average number of completed activities per active student.

You can further customize the report by deselecting fields. All fields will be selected by default.
