How does the Metrics Summary work?

This section of the teacher home page provides two key high-level student metrics:

activities assigned and activities completed. You can choose whether to view the metrics on either a:

  • Weekly basis: the current calendar week (i.e. Sunday to Saturday).

  • Yearly basis: July 1st through June 30th*.

* Currently it's not possible to define your academic year. You can vote on this feature here.

How are the metrics calculated?

Activities Assigned

"Activities assigned" is the total number of activities assigned to any student across all classes over the course of the selected time period.

For example, assume you have the "weekly" time period selected. On Monday you assign Activity X to Class A (which has 10 students) and on Friday you assign Activity Y to Class B (which has 12 students). This metric would display "22" in this scenario because 22 activities have been assigned.

Activities Completed

"Activities completed" is the total number of activities completed by any student across all classes over the course of the selected time period.

For example, assume you have the "weekly" time period selected. Student A completes 2 activities on Monday, and Student B completes 5 activities on Friday. This metric would display "7" in this scenario because 7 activities have been completed.
