How does the summary widget work?

To see the summary widget, navigate to the Overview page in the Home tab in your Quill account.

The summary widget is located at the top of the Overview page. In the widget, you will see the number of activities that you have assigned and the number of activities that your students have completed. Furthermore, you will see a dropdown menu in the upper right corner of the widget to toggle between Weekly and Yearly.

  • When you select Weekly from the dropdown menu, you will see the number of activities that you have assigned and the number of activities that your students have completed within the current calendar week of Sunday to Saturday.

  • When you select Yearly from the dropdown menu, you will see the number of activities that you have assigned and the number of activities that your students have completed within the calendar year of July 1 through June 30.

How are the metrics in the summary widget calculated?

Activities assigned

The Activities assigned number is the total number of activities assigned to all the students in your classes over the course of the selected time period.

For example, assume you have selected Weekly for the time period. If you assigned one activity to Class A, which has 10 students, on Monday, and on Friday, you assigned another activity to Class B, which has 12 students, you will see the number 22 for the Activities assigned number.

Activities completed

The Activities completed number is the total number of activities completed by all the students in your classes over the course of the selected time period.

For example, assume you have selected Weekly for the time period. If Student A completes 2 activities on Monday, and Student B completes 5 activities on Friday, you will see the number 7 for the Activities completed number.


Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I clear the metrics in the summary widget?

    Currently, you are unable to clear the metrics in the summary widget. You can only select Weekly or Yearly from the dropdown menu in the summary widget.

  • How do I view data reports beyond the metrics in the summary widget?

    To view data reports, click on the My Reports tab. We recommend accessing the Activity Summary report for a high-level overview of student progress and performance for the activities that they have been assigned.

  • I have an idea for a different metric. How can I submit my suggestion?
