Can I use Quill without creating student accounts?

Students can work on Quill activities without logging in to Quill. However, you will not have access to student results.

Updated over a week ago

You can use Quill without creating student accounts or saving student data. Please see our activities aligned to the Common Core State Standards Quill activity is publicly accessible from https://www.quill.org/activities/

However, our team strongly recommends creating accounts for your students if you'd like to have access to students' responses to prompts and the feedback that students receive, track student progress, have students see and complete activities in their Quill dashboards, and have access to Quill's extensive data reports. Creating student accounts is easy and completely free! Click here to learn how to get started with Quill.

Below, we have described the process of using Quill without creating student accounts, which is only commended for teachers who cannot create student accounts (due to data privacy) or who are looking to learn about how Quill works before opening an account.

Directions for using Quill without student accounts

If you would like to share activities with your students without creating student accounts, you can share a link for the activity with your students. However, please note that since the link will lead students to an anonymous session for the activity, their results for the activity will not be saved, and you will not be able to view their results in your data reports. To share a link for an activity with a student, choose an activity you'd like to share with your students from this page, copy and paste the link (URL) and share the link with your students through email, through Google Classroom, or by writing the URL on the board. Please see these steps below.

  • Navigate to this page and find the activity you would like to use.

  • When you find an activity you would like to use, right-click on the View Activity hyperlink and click on Copy Link in the menu that appears.

  • Paste the link in a location where your students can access this link.

If you would like to write the link on the board for your students, you can make a short link, which will make it easier for your students to type the link. Please see the steps for making a short link below.

  • Go to bit.ly.

  • Paste the link for the activity.

  • Edit and shorten the link to make it easy for students to type.
