How do I move a student's data from one class to another?

Move a student's data between your classes and other teachers' classes.

Updated this week

The process of moving a student's data depends on how the student was rostered in their current class and who owns the classes between which the student is being moved.

Tip πŸ’‘

When a student's data is moved from an old class to a new class, all activities that have been completed or are in progress by the student will be moved from their old class to their new class. Any activities that have not yet been started will not be moved. Furthermore, the activities that are assigned to all students in the new class will be automatically assigned to the student.

Tip πŸ’‘

The ClassLink rostering integration is only available to schools and districts with School Premium or District Premium subscriptions.

Because ClassLink rostering offers automatic nightly syncs, if a student is moved between your classes in ClassLink, then in Quill, the student's move will be reflected in your ClassLink-synced classes after the automatic nightly sync. However, the student's data will still need to be moved between your ClassLink-synced classes.

To move your student's data, navigate to the Manage Classes page.

Click on the ClassLink-synced class from which you want to move the student's data.

Then, scroll to the Students section of the class and check the box to the left of the name of the student whose data you want to move.

Then, click the Actions dropdown menu.

Then, select the Move class option.

In the menu that appears, click the class to which you want to move the student's data from the dropdown menu, check the box next to the I understand... statement, and click the Move students button.
