Can students use Quill without student accounts?

Students can work on Quill activities without student accounts. However, without student accounts, students' data will not be saved.

Updated over a week ago

Students can use Quill without student accounts. However, without student accounts, students' data will not be saved. For this reason, Quill strongly recommends that students either create student accounts or that you create student accounts for your students so that you will have access to students' data in data reports. These data reports will allow you to track student progress and see both students' responses to prompts and the feedback that students receive for their responses. Please click here to learn how students can create student accounts. Please click here to learn how you can create student accounts for students.

If you would still like students to use Quill without student accounts, please see the process below of how students can use Quill without student accounts. Please note that Quill only recommends that students use Quill without student accounts if teachers cannot create student accounts or cannot have students create student accounts.

Directions for how students can use Quill without student accounts

If you would like students to use Quill without student accounts, you can share links for Quill activities with your students. However, please note that since the links will lead students to anonymous sessions for the activities, students' data for the activities will not be saved, and you will not be able to view their data in your data reports. To share a link for an activity with a student, choose an activity you would like to share with your students from this page, copy and paste the link (URL), and share the link with your students. Please see these steps below.

  • Navigate to this page and find the activity that you would like your students to complete.

  • When you find an activity that you would like your students to complete, right-click on the View Activity hyperlink and click on Copy Link from the menu that appears.

  • Paste the link in a location where your students can access this link.

If you would like to shorten the link for your students to make it easier for your students to type the link, you can make the link a short link. Please see the steps for making a link a short link below.

  • Go to bit.ly.

  • Paste the link for the activity.

  • Edit and shorten the link to make it easy for students to type.
