Approve Quill as a trusted third-party application

To ensure students can access Quill with their Google emails, your school/district Google Workspace administrator must approve Quill as a trusted third-party application.

Your Google Workspace admin can follow the steps in this article to configure Quill as a trusted app.

💡 Please note

Students might receive a 400: access blocked error message while attempting to log in to Quill if the application has not been verified following the steps above.

Teacher account set-up

Before importing classes from Google Classroom, teachers need to ensure their accounts are connected to Google. Teachers can:

Sign up for Quill with Google email

To create a new account connected to Google, the teacher should navigate to our sign up page and click "Sign Up with Google"

Connect existing Quill account to Google

Teachers with a current Quill account can connect it to Google by navigating to the Home tab, clicking My Account, and scrolling down to the Linked Accounts section to link to Google. If the account is connected to Clever, they must unlink it first.

Sharing Quill activity links

One of the benefits of the Google Classroom integration is sharing links to assigned Quill activities to Google Classroom classes. To do this, teachers can first assign an activity on Quill. After assigning it, they can navigate to the My Activities page, click Share activity pack, and click Share to Google Classroom on the pop-up:

Frequently Asked Questions

Students cannot access Quill because they see a "400" error message. How can I fix this?

If Quill has not been verified as a trusted application on your Google for Education Workspace, students might be unable to log in using their Google emails. This is due to a change in Google's policy for users under 18.
If the error message reads "Error 400: access_not_configured", Quill has not yet been reviewed in your Google Workspace. If the error message reads "Error 400: admin_policy_enforced", Quill has likely been blocked in your Google Workspace. Your Google Workspace admin can follow the steps in this article to verify Quill as a trusted app and unblock student access.

A teacher sees a spinning wheel when attempting to import classes from Google Classroom. How can the teacher import their classes?

If the teacher sees a spinning wheel or a message that "reauthorization is needed" while attempting to import classes from Google Classroom, please ask them to log out of their Quill account by clicking on their name in the top right corner and clicking the Logout option. Once they log back into Quill, they can import classes or students. If logging out and logging back in does not resolve the issue, email support@quill.org.

A teacher has duplicate classes or students, some connected to Google and others to Clever or usernames. How do I remove the duplicates?

We recommend connecting to a single rostering platform to avoid duplicate accounts. Please follow the steps in this article to help the teacher merge duplicate student accounts. If you'd prefer to perform the merge, you can access the teacher's account from your Premium Hub (see the question below).

How can I access a teacher's Quill account?

If you have administrator access to your school through the Premium Hub, you can log in to any teacher's account. Note that the teacher's account needs to be connected to a school you have administrator access to. Scroll down to Account Management, select the school from the dropdown, and locate the teacher's account. Click the three dots on the Actions menu and click Login as teacher.
